Comcast installation construction update - Aug. 15
The Town of Wellington has received confirmation from Comcast of the following updates to its schedule for network construction in Wellington:
- The start date for boring work on utility easements is now Monday, August 19.
- There will be two construction teams working concurrently. One will start in Sage Meadows and the other in View Pointe.

The next step in the installation of Comcast’s fiber network in Wellington involves boring on private property in close proximity to residences and will start August 19. Workers from Mears, who Comcast hired as the general contractor for their project, will be boring holes in utility easements, starting with the Sage Meadows and Viewpointe subdivisions.
It is important to note that utility easements are located close to residences on private property. It’s also worth noting that, while Comcast has the legal right to access the easements, the company is committed to working with residents, Home Owners Associations, and the Town of Wellington to make sure the work is done in speedy fashion with as little disruption as possible.
Starting next week, residents can expect to see workers out locating other utilities in preparation for the boring work. This involves first marking the ground with spray paint before returning with a vac truck to complete the job.
About a week before boring work starts in a neighborhood, Comcast will hang door hangers on the doors of residences, alerting occupants. No Parking signs will also be placed in areas where work will soon take place with the expected dates for that work.
Workers for Comcast, Mears and any subcontractor hired by Mears to help on the project will all have identification, and copies of construction permits will be available. Additionally, HOAs have been alerted.
Boring involves large, noisy machines. The work could require the use of driveways to complete. Project hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, unless otherwise noted. Crews will move through neighborhoods as quickly as possible, with work expected to take as long as 45 days per subdivision.
In addition to workers from Mears and Comcast, the Town will have workers on site to help things run smoothly. Any private property disturbed or damaged as a result of the work will be restored, with Mears responsible for the restoration as general contractor.
