2026 Registration is Now Open
2026 Business Licenses Renewal and Registration is open! We are thrilled to continue using Community Core in 2026, our user-friendly, web-based platform designed to make registration and renewal quick and convenient for business owners.
When starting and operating a business in Wellington, you may need to interact with multiple departments to ensure your business is operating meeting the Town's local regulations.
All companies and individuals conducting business in Wellington must obtain a business license. The online platform Community Core allows the Town's departments and Wellington Fire Protection District to collect information for a review of applications in a simplified streamlined process.
2026 Renewal Process and Step-By-Step Instructions:
Staff encourages businesses who are renewing their business licenses for 2026 through Community Core to visit our Annual Renewals Step-by-Step website for guidance on completing this process online through your existing Community Core account.
Significant Changes: (All applicants please read before completing an application)
1. All businesses are required to complete a Applicant Affidavit Form for the Town when applying for a business license online. This Business License Applicant Affidavit Form is a necessary piece of the business license process and must be filled out. However, all applicants must first register and apply for a license in Community Core. If you haven't already registered and applied, click here for a guide on how to start that process before completing this form.
2. Businesses with a physical address in Wellington Town Limits (not including home occupations) will be asked to provide a Waste Questionnaire with their Business License Application. To access the Industrial/Commercial Waste Questionnaire use this link. Once completed, digital forms can be submitted electronically. To receive a copy of your completed questionnaire and ensure your submittal was successful, please select 'Receive and email copy of this form' at the bottom of the electronic form.
- Businesses renewing their 2025 Business License will not be subject to provide Industrial /Commercial Waste Questionnaire, if they have not relocated to a new location, or proposed alterations or remodel to the existing facility they are operating at.
3. The Town will not assess fees for Business Licenses until your application has been reviewed and processed by Staff.
- Please do NOT send check payments to the Town prior to formal invoicing as they will be emailed to applicants upon approval.
4. As of January 1, 2022, the Town of Wellington no longer issues a Sales Tax License. The Town of Wellington is a statutory community, which means all sales tax is remitted by the State of Colorado Department of Revenue tax system.
- Businesses are required to include Wellington as a non-physical location to their Colorado Sales Tax License, Special Event Sales Tax License and Multi-Event Sales Tax License (Jurisdiction Code 06-0082)
- Visit the Colorado Department of Revenue Add Locations (Sites) to Your Sales Tax Account | Department of Revenue - Taxation (colorado.gov) website for additional steps to add Wellington to your license.
5. A business license can take up to 30 days, however the majority are processed between 5 – 10 business days.
